Frequently Asked Questions
This one-day tour from Yerevan is a full immersion into the nature and history of the Syunik province. The itinerary includes: Areni Winery - we'll start with a stop in the main wine region, where you can taste and buy famous Armenian wines. Shaki Waterfall - a visit to one of the most picturesque and powerful waterfalls in Armenia, with a height of 18 meters (59 feet). Tatev Monastery and "Wings of Tatev" Cable Car - you will take a breathtaking flight over the gorge on the world's longest reversible aerial tramway to the medieval Tatev Monastery. Khndzoresk Cave Town - at the end of the tour, you will visit an ancient settlement with cave dwellings connected by the famous "swinging bridge".
This is a very long and packed tour designed for resilient travelers. Duration: 12-13 hours. Distance: The total route length is approximately 460 km (about 285 miles). The trip requires an early departure from Yerevan and is suitable for those who want to see the maximum in one day and are not afraid of a long drive.
The total cost of your journey will consist of several parts: price for the car with a driver - starting from 90,000 AMD, tickets for the "Wings of Tatev" cable car (paid separately, we recommend checking the current price on their official website), wine tasting in Areni (paid on-site at the winery), meals (lunch at a restaurant along the route). Therefore, you need to add the costs for tickets, wine tasting, and food to the tour price. The starting price is for a sedan and the whole vehicle with driver, not per person. Guide services cost extra for every vehicle category. Passenger insurance is not included in the tour price.
Khndzoresk is an ancient village where people lived in caves until the mid-20th century. To reach it, you must descend into a gorge via a staircase and cross it using a 160-meter long suspension "swinging bridge." Important: Visiting Khndzoresk requires a good level of physical fitness. You will have to go down and, most importantly, climb back up a rather steep staircase. Please assess your fitness level before choosing this tour.
Sometimes, due to weather conditions or technical maintenance, the cable car may be closed. In this case, we will reach Tatev Monastery by car via a scenic serpentine road. It will take more time but will not cancel the visit to the main destination of the route.
Given its extensive duration (12-13 hours) and the physical exertion required at Khndzoresk (steep descent/ascent), we do not recommend this tour for families with young children or for the elderly. It is ideal for active, resilient tourists looking for an adventure.
We will definitely make a stop for a full lunch. This usually happens in the Tatev area or along the way, depending on the timing. There are restaurants in this region where you can try authentic Syunik cuisine. Your driver will recommend a good option.
Footwear: Comfortable athletic shoes with non-slip soles are essential, especially for Khndzoresk. Clothing: Choose comfortable, sporty attire. Be sure to bring a warm sweater or jacket, as the weather in the mountains can be unpredictable and cool.
We conduct exclusively private tours. For such a complex and lengthy route, this is the only appropriate format as it provides the necessary flexibility, comfort, and safety.
Choose the date, passenger count and vehicle, add a paid guide if needed, then enter your contact details and send a booking request. Trip details are agreed during confirmation. No prepayment. Payment is made after the trip. Cash in AMD, USD, EUR, RUB or a transfer to an Armenian bank card. No card terminal in the car and no online card payment.
