Frequently Asked Questions
This is our longest and most action-packed one-day tour, a true journey to the southern treasures of Armenia. The itinerary includes: Khor Virap Monastery - the first stop is at the foot of Mount Ararat, where you can take the best photos of Armenia's biblical symbol. Noravank Monastery - next, we will visit a 13th-century monastery that seems to merge with the surrounding red cliffs—one of the most beautiful landscapes in Armenia. Tatev Monastery - the climax of the trip is the majestic Tatev Monastery, a pearl of medieval architecture, perched on the edge of the Vorotan Gorge. We will reach it via the famous "Wings of Tatev" aerial tramway.
Be prepared for a real adventure! A one-day trip from Yerevan to Tatev is a long but incredibly rewarding journey. Duration is 13-14 hours. The total round-trip distance by car is approximately 550 km (about 340 miles). We recommend starting this tour early in the morning to see everything without being rushed.
The "Wings of Tatev" is the world's longest reversible aerial tramway, listed in the Guinness Book of Records. The flight over the Vorotan Gorge is an unforgettable experience in itself. Important: Tickets for the "Tatever" cable car are not included in the tour price and must be purchased separately at the ticket office on-site.
The total cost consists of two parts: price for the car with a driver starting from 85,000 AMD (depending on the vehicle type). "Wings of Tatev" cable car ticket price - we strongly recommend checking the current ticket prices on the official "Tatever" website, as they can change. You should also budget for meals. Entrance to Khor Virap and Noravank monasteries is free. The starting price is for a sedan and the whole vehicle with driver, not per person. Guide services cost extra for every vehicle category. Passenger insurance is not included in the tour price.
The cable car may be closed due to strong winds or for scheduled maintenance. In this case, we will not cancel the trip! A scenic serpentine road leads to Tatev Monastery, and we will take that route instead. This journey takes longer but allows you to see the Vorotan Gorge from a different perspective.
Technically, yes, but we ask parents to be realistic. This is a very long trip (13-14 hours), with most of the time spent in the car. The tour can be tiring for young children. It is better suited for adults and teenagers who are prepared for a long journey in exchange for stunning views and experiences.
We will definitely make a stop for a full lunch, usually after visiting Noravank or before heading to Tatev. There are several excellent restaurants in the region where you can try authentic Southern Armenian cuisine. Your driver will recommend the best options.
The main rule is comfort. Since you will spend most of the day on the road, choose comfortable clothing. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes for the monastery grounds. We also recommend bringing a warm sweater or jacket, as it can be significantly cooler in the mountains of the Syunik province than in Yerevan, even in summer.
We conduct exclusively private tours to Tatev. For such a long and intensive trip, this is the best format. You get the comfort of a private vehicle, the flexibility to make stops on demand, and you are not dependent on the pace of a large group.
Choose the date, passenger count and vehicle, add a paid guide if needed, then enter your contact details and send a booking request. Trip details are agreed during confirmation. No prepayment. Payment is made after the trip. Cash in AMD, USD, EUR, RUB or a transfer to an Armenian bank card. No card terminal in the car and no online card payment.
